ELIZABETH

Founder & Instructor

Elizabeth “Magnolia Myra” is the founder and director of Kickin’ Roots Line Dancing, powered by Magnolia Dance Company, LLC, the organization behind its programming, instructor development, and community partnerships across Central Mississippi.

Born in Louisiana and raised in Mississippi, Elizabeth has loved dance since childhood. Largely self-taught, she developed her style through creativity, discipline, and a deep passion for movement, shaping her belief that dance should be accessible, welcoming, and empowering for anyone.

Since beginning her teaching journey in 2001, she has helped build communities where people can connect, grow confidence, and have fun. Under her leadership, Kickin’ Roots continues to expand through classes, workshops, private and corporate events, and large-scale community dance experiences - all rooted in a mission to bring people together through movement and shared passion.

Michael

Instructor & DJ

Michael Stevenson is from Cleveland, Mississippi, and has spent his life in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. He has a passion for both line dancing and partner dancing, with a special focus on teaching beginner dancers and helping them feel confident on the floor.

Michael teaches beginner line dance lessons as well as partner dance styles, including progressive partner dancing and beginner country swing. Remembering how many questions he had when first learning — from basic steps to lead-and-follow techniques — he enjoys creating a supportive environment where dancers can learn at their own pace and truly enjoy the experience.

In addition to instruction, Michael brings experience as a line dance DJ, known for reading the crowd, keeping the dance floor active, and taking song requests to ensure everyone has a great time.
